Nancy Allison is a dancer, choreographer, filmmaker and author. Her choreography has been presented by Athens Festival (Greece), House of Composers (Moscow) and Lincoln Center Out-of -Doors Festival among others. She is most well known in the US as a leading interpreter of the American choreographer, Jean Erdman?s classic modern dance repertory of the 1940s and 50s, which she has also staged across the US. Her film, Hamadryad, co-produced and directed with Paul Allman, premiered at Film Society of Lincoln Center?s 2015 Dance on Camera Festival, screened at the Mykonos Biennale (Greece) and the SouthEastern Film Festival (Nashville, TN) and won awards from Honolulu Film Awards (Honolulu,HI) and IndieFEST (LaJolla, CA). For The Marble Project, now in post-production, co-produced with Fondazione Arkad (Seravezza, IT) and INDACO (Venice, IT) Allison collaborated with choreographer, Laura Boato and filmmakers, Simone Verona and Luca Fortini to create two dance films in the quarries of Versilia, Italy. She has taught on faculty at New York University, State University of New York in Purchase, NY and the Laban-Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York City, and as a guest artist throughout the U.S and abroad including, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal and University of Venice, Laboratorio Danza Contemporanea and Centro Teatrale di Ricerca in Venice. She is the editor of The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Body-Mind Disciplines (Rosen Publishing NY.NY, 1999) as well as the upcoming Mythology and Form (New World Library, Novato, CA), the collected writing of Joseph Campbell on dance.
